Pierre Montagano to represent Squid at Charleston Conference with a slot on usage analytics
Charleston: the conference gathering the publishing ecosystem
The Charleston Conference is an informal annual gathering of librarians, publishers, electronic resource managers, consultants, and vendors of library materials in Charleston, SC, in November, to discuss issues of importance to them all. It is designed to be a collegial gathering of individuals from different areas who discuss the same issues in a non-threatening, friendly, and highly informal environment. Starting in 1980, the Charleston Conference has grown from 20 participants in to over 1,600 in 2014.
The next conference is scheduled on November 4-7 2015 and Pierre Montagano, Business Development Director at Squid Solutions will be a speaker.
The workshop will show the insights of the ProQuest and Squid Solutions collaboration regarding data.
Workshop: Analysing usage going beyond the obvious
“At the moment, there is no widely available ways of knowing how readers are using an article on a product platform. But what if there were? A new class of analytics could help us look beyond simple numbers and usage data to improve product development and content acquisition decisions. In the competitive market of journal content or aggregated content for academic research, usage is the currency and we need to look beyond the content and into how people leverage the tools and features within our delivery platforms. This presentation will share insights from a yearlong usage analytics project between ProQuest and Squid Solutions. As we become more data-driven in decision-making, we need to recognize the challenges and opportunities of leveraging usage data to provide better, more valuable products and services to users.”
The objective of the session -> Have the audience think differently about usage data.
